As an adoptee, you’re part of a community.

As someone who was adopted, you know that you have support from your family and from our team at ASC. But what you might not know is that you have a large community of people who share part of your experience.

It’s estimated that more than 7 million people across the country were adopted. We can connect you with local groups of people who share a background of adoption — or who share your biological culture — so you can build a community around those important parts of your identity.

Groups for adoptees

No matter where you were adopted or where you live today, there are others who share parts of your experience. Local and online groups are a great place to connect with people and hear their stories — about their adoptive family, about reuniting with their birth family, and about their unique experiences as a person who was adopted.

Transracial adoptees

Explore your identity as a transracial adoptee

If you were adopted into a family that doesn’t share your race, you might feel a disconnect from the people who share your biological culture. ASC knows this is an important part of your identity that’s worth exploring.
We’ve put together a list of resources where you can find support as a transracial adoptee:

Connect with your culture

Events and resources to connect with your heritage

We know how important it is to be part of a community that looks like you, that speaks the native language that you may or may not know yourself, and that celebrates the holidays and events tied to your culture.

There are various groups and events across Indiana where you can connect with people who share your culture, your heritage and your language. There are many more, but this short list is a good place to start.
